On a previous post, I mentioned that my best friend, Teresa, bought two guinea pigs, H and M, recently. Since I am helping Teresa to take care of both little creatures, I have become a sort of dad for them (Happy belated Father’s Day to me!).
H is white and her face is partly brown. Accidentally she broke her right leg the first day Teresa bought her (I dropped her and she hit on a wall, ooooops!) but has been progressively recovering since. Her weight was 316 grams 10 days ago and she has gained 50 grams in this period of time. She loves oranges and hay and I particularly love her tiny mouth:
(Hi, followers and visitors! My name is H; what’s yours?)
In contrast, M is completely brown besides one leg. She has gained 20 grams in approximately 1 week (from 361 to 381); her favorite food is apples and kale; she bites furiously every finger that is too close to her mouth, and M’s a mommy’s girl compared with H who’s a daddy’s girl.
(Hello, guys! I’m M; what’s up?)
For the third time in less than two weeks, we visited the vet yesterday because poor M got some ringworm around her right eye. The major problem is that she has been scratching the wound and we were very afraid of a potential ocular damage. Fortunately, the vet came up with an idea that solved the problem so far (wait for it; a picture of the solution is coming soon). We tried diverse solutions over the course of the weekend and failed miserably every time: a vest for guinea pigs, a DIY plastic cone, rubber booties, a collar full of these rubber booties forming a type of “shield” next to the cheek, and so on.
Life has brought so many happy moments with H&M in these 2 weeks that Teresa and I just launched a blog: The Adventures of H&M. We’ll post photographs of these cute rodents and some updates about their squeaky life. You should definitely check it out when it’s ready!…
