My parents and I went to a dinner buffet at the Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center yesterday. It was very fancy and delicious so we documented it quite well.
Among the many photos we took, there is one that I particularly love: both of them are laughing vividly as if nothing else in the world mattered. Why were they roaring so hard? Well, this is the anecdote behind this photo:
My dad was wearing a vest that I gave him as a gift last winter. When he wears clothes that I had bought for him, we always make the same inside joke: I ask him “Oh, where did you buy that?” and he answers “At Ripley, yesterday” (Ripley is the Peruvian equivalent of Macy’s). We made the joke yesterday, of course, but my mom didn’t know that the vest my dad was wearing was a gift from me (or at least she pretended that she didn’t know it). So to tease my dad, as per use, she began making jokes about how he must have gotten the vest on sale: “Was it a ‘buy 4 items, and get the fifth one for free’ sale?” and things like that. My dad began roaring. They looked so happy! Fortunately I had my camera next to hand so I documented the moment.
I’m planing to print the photo out and give a copy to them before I return to the States on Thursday. I hope they love it!…
