Sometimes we forget that buildings are repaired, rebuilt, or refashioned by construction workers who are economically unprivileged compared to the architects and engineers behind the planned repairs. And these workers become even more invisible (if that’s possible) when talking about artistic buildings. When repairs are over, we praise the aesthetic value of these buildings but we tend to overlook the labour that kept their beauty intact as well.
For instance, Duke chapel and some of the neo-gothic buildings next to it are under renovation nowadays. Although workers are currently visible, I’m quite sure that only few people (if any) will remember their presence when renovation is done. That’s why, this picture is my personal homage to these invisible workers…
not to mention they are so brave for enduring heights!
