Yesterday I had my first sports assignment at The Duke Chronicle: I had to take pictures of the Duke Women’s Tennis team playing against Columbia. The Chronicle crew has special telephoto lenses to cover sports events so I was really excited to be able to use them for the first time in my life!
Since it was my first time covering sports, one of the photo editors -Sophia- was my shadow, meaning she also brought a camera and took pictures in case the other editors considered that my photos were not useful. Thankfully it seems that Sophia was pretty impressed with the photos I took! We’ll see if they choose one of mine for the article about Duke’s win on Monday!
This is one of my favorites photos from yesterday (if not my favorite.) The player’s name is Hanna Mar. She played an intense doubles game with Beatrice Capra (they won by 7-6)! After a break, she played singles and came back from a 0-2. This game ended 6-2, 2-3 since Duke got the necessary amount of points to beat Columbia and pass to the championship match (which is happening today.) Let’s go Duke!…
