On Friday, my friend Teresa participated in a Diplomat Show. A Diplomat Show is one of the events her Improv group (DSI, Dirty South Improv Comedy Theater. Carrboro, NC) organizes from time to time; a person must deliver a series of brief monologues and between each of them other actors improvise scenes freely departing from the content of the monologues.
In Teresa’s case, she delivered four personal stories and five actors recreated diverse situations mentioned in them.
(Climax of one of Teresa’ stories)
Teresa’s monologues explained her personal reasons to do a double PhD (French and Italian.) These reasons involve hilarious situations such as two sophisticated characters -Pierre and Jacques- her mom invented when Teresa was a child, a daily eight-hour summer archaeology dig in Italy with no restrooms available, and an uneatable fish stew in France when being hosted by a noble family. She ended her performance telling some funny and funky anecdotes about her trip to Venice and a frustrated scam against her on the Croatian border both in 2012.
(DSI guys recreating part of Teresa’s trip to Croatia on a clunky shaky bus)
The theater was packed and everybody roared with Teresa’s anecdotes and DSI people’ sketches. Great job, Teresa and guys! Thumbs up!…
Nicely photographed and summarized. Almost like being there!
thanks, eileen! it was a quite hilarious show! 🙂 …
