Yesterday I mentioned that we just learned how to make a contact sheet in my Introduction to Photography class. We also learned how to enlarge pictures from the negatives so I actually made prints of two pictures from the contact sheet I posted. The first one is quite iconic: a vertical view of the neo-Gothic chapel, probably my favorite building at Duke.
The second photo shows the façade of Perkins Library.
What I love about this photo is the chiaroscuro created between the super illuminated part of the façade on the right and the part covered by the shade on the left. I also think that the two girls walking towards the building add some perspective and dimensionality.
I still have lots of negatives to enlarge so hopefully I’ll share more of them soon!…
