More World Cup and family today!
(Winning selfie: Germany 4 – 0 Portugal…)
After enjoying Germany’s win at home (and seeing Ronaldo’s frustrated face multiple times on TV,) my parents and I had lunch together. Since I’ve been craving for hen soup these days, we went to a Peruvian typical food restaurant today.
Compared to chicken soup, hen soup is a bit thicker and tastier because of its grease. Here in Peru this soup is a very typical winter dish; we usually add rice (or noodles,) potatoes, chives, cilantro, oregano, boiled eggs, and ginger…
Sometimes we also add giblets such as sweetbread and heart. I know, that may sound gross to my American readers, but giblets actually represent a significant ingredient of some typical Peruvian dishes. For instance, my dad ordered sangrecita, boiled chicken blood with giblets.
My mom, on her part, ordered duck stew with rice and beans…
While running some errands later, we were able to watch the last minutes of the USA – Ghana game, and thus saw Brooks’ goal! Group G is quite exciting! I wonder what team besides Germany will pass to the next phase!…
Tomorrow, more World Cup! What team are you rooting for, my friends?…
