I attended another practice of Duke women’s soccer team today. As they were playing a 11 vs. 11 game to prepare for their game at Clemson on Thursday, Kaitlyn Kerr visited the team. Kaitlyn scored the goal Duke won the ACC in 2011 with so I interviewed her for my Magazine Journalism class (I’m writing a profile article about Robbie as I mentioned before) and asked about two fundamental moments in that season: the ACC championship and the NCAA they lost to Stanford (1-0.) After the practice was over, I took a picture of Robbie and Kaitlyn together since they have such a great bond and she told me so many interesting and nice things about him.
Kaitlyn: “My mom told me recently, ‘I don’t think I told you this before but between the Wake Forest game and the final against Stanford, Robbie Church stayed up so late watching so much film to be prepared for the team that the day of the final game he had the biggest black eyes anybody can have.’ He got 0 sleep because he wanted to be prepared for us for that final game. I think we are so well coached with him and his team. I have no doubt; in that sense, we are the best in the country.”
