Today, The Chronicle posted another photo essay of the Special Projects Section: “Trashy.” A senior went for a walk on campus and, as she wandered around, found out that “a problem has settled over our gothic wonderland—a big, trashy one.” Check the photo essay out!
These images reminded me of an assignment I had a couple of weeks ago for Towerview, the magazine published by The Chronicle. They asked me to take photos of little known places on campus. I live across from Duke’s East Campus where there’s a bench that is kind of hidden behind a tree. In the summer, sitting on the bench while reading (in spite of the mosquitoes!) is quite a lovely experience. And in the fall, it’s just nice to sit on the bench and see how the leaves of the trees change colors. So I grabbed my camera, found a neat angle, and took a few pictures. When I was ready to leave and find another place to photograph, I took a peek of my photos… and noticed a disturbing detail. Can you notice it too?…
